Reese Witherspoon is an actress whose films I will always watch and love no matter what. It’s just something about her presence.
Witherspoon plays Alice, a 40-year-old mom of two who just moved back to Los Angeles after separating from her husband. Alice invites three twenty-somethings to live in her guesthouse – one of which she ends up sleeping with. Obviously, life starts to get complicated, especially once her ex returns.
Different plotlines felt unresolved and certain characters felt wasted, especially Candice Bergen who barely had a role after her first scene. And Witherspoon had better chemistry with George (Jon Rudnitsky) than she did with Harry (Pico Alexander), the latter of which she was sleeping with. It made me root for a guy who wasn’t even in the running.
Final say: Just watch some of Reese’s older gems. ★★☆☆☆
