Brightly colored and incredibly smart, Do Revenge is a return to the over-the-top high school comedies that we haven’t seen as strong since Mean Girls.
When a private video sent to her boyfriend Max (Austin Abrams) is leaked, Drea (Camila Mendes) becomes a social pariah. She meets Eleanor (Maya Hawke) who wants to take revenge on a former crush (Ava Capri), so the two pair up to carry out each other’s plans.
Though Mendes essentially plays her Riverdale character, she creates wonderful chemistry with Hawke, who is a chameleon in her role. Abrams portrays Gen Z popularity that’s refreshing compared to the jocks that normally dominate the role. And Sophie Turner’s brief appearance is iconic.
While the storyline may feel familiar, there are some great twists that keep the viewers engaged and shocked.
Final say: Revenge is sweet. ★★★★☆
