In the 2000s, everyone knew Paris Hilton as the tabloids painted her out to be: spoiled, rich and blonde. But in this often-gut-wrenching memoir, Hilton allows readers to dive into her deeply traumatic past.
Growing up big cities, Hilton loved to party to the point where her parents worried enough to send her to youth treatment centers. In these institutions, Hilton and the other “students” would be regularly subjected to physical and emotional abuse.
There’s bravery in her vulnerability. You can feel her discomfort in talking about the past but see her shaping that trauma into purpose. Reading that the “Paris Hilton” we know is a character she created as coping mechanism is tough, but you’ll applaud her for her growth and commitment to stopping these schools.
Final say: If you weren’t a fan before, you will be now. ★★★★★
