Instead of bringing dinosaurs back like Jurassic Park, 65 drops its main characters right at the end of the Cretaceous period.
On the planet Somaris 65 million years ago, Mills (Adam Driver) has to pilot a two-year space expedition, which means leaving his sick daughter Nevine (Chloe Coleman). Upon return, his ship crashes on the undocumented Earth leaving Koa (Ariana Greenblatt) as the only passenger to survive. Together, they must fight their way to an escape pod.
Until Koa and Mills start their journey, the film has pacing issues. The beginning of the story moves fast without much explanation. Even later, certain important plot elements aren’t very clear.
However, Driver gives a solid performance putting his real-life military skills to use. The action is thrilling and will cause terror for viewers.
Final say: Better to stay in the past. ★★☆☆☆
