A modern musical take on the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol, audiences will be dazzled by the spectacle and cracked up by the comedy of Spirited.

When the Ghost of Christmas Present (Will Ferrell) feels unsatisfied with the new soul to haunt, he encounters Clint (Ryan Reynolds). Though Jacob Marley (Patrick Page) deems Clint an unredeemable and advises against spending time on him, the Ghost of Christmas Present is determined to redeem his soul.

With music by Pasek & Paul – the team behind La La Land and The Greatest Showman – the musical numbers are the most entertaining part of the film with their witty lyrics.

Unfortunately, Ferrell and Reynolds both fall into their usual caricatures. Though a holiday film isn’t where you make groundbreaking content, their roles are predictable.

Final say: We can all be more spirited. ★★★★☆
