Despite having the overly intense dose of corny that Disney Channel Original Movies have become, Zombies has great underlying themes and fantastic choreography.
For the first time, zombies and humans are combined in the same school. Zombie Zed (Milo Manheim) wants nothing more than to be on the football and instantly shares a connection with human cheerleader Addison (Meg Donnelly). But the segregation of their kinds threatens to keep them separate.
While the plot is predictable (you’ll know what’s going to happen by the end of the first song) and the fourth wall breaking is distracting, you’ll want to cheer for Zed and Addison. Manheim and Donnelly are picture-perfect leads, whose talents are continuously displayed throughout the film. And, the music will instantly get stuck in your head.
Final say: Alive if not thriving. ★★★☆☆
