Coming out of its longest break since it opened in 1997, The Lion King continues to prove why it’s one of the most popular Broadway attractions of all-time.
When his Uncle Scar (Stephen Carlile) tricks him into believing he’s the reason for his father Mufasa’s (L. Steven Taylor) death, young Simba (Corey J.) runs away from his responsibility to become king. As an adult, Nala (Adrienne Walker) urges Simba (Brandon A. McCall) to return to Pride Rock.
Tshidi Manye – who plays Rafiki – is a standout cast member. She’s played the role in various productions for 24 years and you can feel her passion with every choice she makes as she returns to the role.
There are numerous things about The Lion King that makes it exciting and uplifting at any age.
Final say: Welcome back to Pride Rock. ★★★★★
