RuPaul brings his iconic drag race competition down to Australasia after having success in the United States, Thailand, the UK and Canada.
Ten drag queens from Australia and New Zealand battle it out to become the first Down Under Drag Superstar. RuPaul continues to host alongside long-time Drag Race judge Michelle Visage and comedian Rhys Nicholson.
The queens in this season are a bit lackluster and while the right queen wins, it’s hard to imagine how long she would last against many of the other franchise winners. The season seems overproduced except when it comes to lighting and sound, especially with Art Simone’s rude exit and then unexplained return. It seems like they knew who they wanted in the finals and did whatever was needed to put them there.
Final say: Goes down and never really comes up. ★★★☆☆
