With the time frame being set in 1992, MJ ends Michael Jackson’s story before a lot of his controversies begin.
While preparing for the Dangerous World Tour, MJ (Myles Frost) is approached by Rachel (Whitney Bashor) who is hoping to get an in-depth interview with the King of Pop. MJ recounts his life, including his abuse from father Joe Jackson (Quentin Earl Darrington).
Frost’s portray of Jackson is genius. He sounds so much like the icon and recreates his famous dance moves with ease and style. Tavon Olds-Sample portrays Michael in his teen years and is just as impressive as Frost.
Lynn Nottage’s book is weak, and the storyline barely connects the songs together, but fans are there for his hits. Every time the music starts, you won’t want it to end.
Final say: The music will thrill you. ★★★☆☆
