Film: Gravy

Though it’s one of the most grotesque horror films out there – at times worse than the Saw franchise – Gravy’s comedic leaning and fun performances from Jimmi Simpson and Sutton Foster make it somewhat strangely entertaining.

On Halloween night, three people (Simpson, Michael Weston and Lily Cole) take the workers of a Mexican restaurant hostage with the intent to kill and eat them. Winning the first of several challenges, Kerry (Foster) must think of how to help her coworkers escape.

You can feel the light energy from the opening scene between Weston and Sarah Silverman. It’s extremely corny but even if you make it through that, worse scenes are yet to come.

It’s a wonder that several names with star-power, including Tony-winner Foster and Academy Award-nominee Gabourey Sidibe, got stuck in this.

Final say: Don’t put yourself through it. ★☆☆☆☆
