Film: Halloween Kills

Middle films in trilogies typically end up being great or terrible with little in between and unfortunately Halloween Kills falls into the latter category for the franchise’s reboot.

After locking Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney & Nick Castle) in the basement of her burning home, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is rushed to the hospital. Michael escapes again and begins wreaking havoc on Haddonfield.

With the writing starting right where Halloween ends and leaving off presumably where Halloween Ends will begin, there isn’t really a beginning or end to this entry. This makes the experience feel empty instead of getting excited for the next one.

Much of the acting in this one is over-the-top as well, especially in flashback scenes. Judy Greer gives the best performance returning as Laurie’s daughter.

Final say: Halloween kills…but not in a good way. ★☆☆☆☆
