Upon starting the fourth entry in Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper series, one might ask where she could go next to keep things engaging. However, Oseman brilliantly brings in a new chapter of Nick & Charlie’s journey in terms of support and love.

Charlie wants to tell Nick he loves him before Nick goes on holiday for the summer but can’t figure out when to. Simultaneously, Nick wants to talk to Charlie more about the eating disorder that he suspects Charlie has.

The way Oseman handles Charlie’s battle with anorexia is magnificently crafted. Readers see it from denial to acceptance to action and the aftermath. And while it’s a hard subject to write about as it varies between people, she comes in from all sides with good resources that can help others.
