Based on the classic novel, the first installment of The Chronicles of Narnia creates a magical world that’ll often leave you breathless.
While playing hide and seek, Lucy Pevensie (Georgie Henley) discovers a wardrobe that leads to Narnia. Her sister Susan (Anna Popplewell) and brothers Peter (William Moseley) and Edmund (Skandar Keynes) soon follow and learn of a prophecy where they’re to be rulers.
Over a decade after its release, the film stands as one of Disney’s greatest live action films. Its storyline is deep, the performances are strong and most of the CGI survives being dated.
Clocking in at two and a half hours, it’s slightly hard to sell this as a children’s film. The battle sequences and dark tones are more suitable for an older crowd.
Final say: Thrilling for the right age. ★★★★☆
