Director Adam McKay presents his latest political satire with a starry cast and a massive problem that will make you think about the times we’re currently living in and the people around us.
PhD candidate Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence) discovers that a planet-destroying comet is headed toward Earth. Along with her professor Dr. Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio), they bring a warning to President Janie Orlean (Meryl Streep) who doesn’t give it the attention it deserves.
There are so many funny moments in the film and each cast member brings in their own brand of humor – down to Ariana Grande’s spot-on fictional version of herself.
What really drives this film is how crazy it seems, but also how true it feels. Between global warming and COVID-19, we’ve seen non-believers and crooked politicians.
Final say: Stop ignoring and look up. ★★★★★
