Season two of Grown-ish develops all of its characters except for one, and unfortunately, that one is the main character.
After choosing Luca (Luka Sabbat) as her man at the end of freshman year, Zoey (Yara Shahidi) begins to hit several roadblocks in sophomore year. Ana (Francia Raisa) and Aaron (Trevor Jackson) begin to have feelings for each other, while Nomi (Emily Arlook) develops feelings for her openly lesbian gender studies professor (Katherine Moennig).
Zoey makes so many bad decisions in this season and it’s clear how toxic her character is to her friends. The writers keep setting her up for a great arc, but then let it crash each time. One of the best examples of this is her fight with Jazz (Chloe Bailey), which never gets resolved but suddenly seems as if it never happened.
Final say: Child-ish. ★★★☆☆
