The more successful of 2021’s Princess Diana stories– it’s best to skip over the musical – allows Diana to be messy as she comes to a major decision in her life.
During the Christmas holidays of 1991, Princess Diana (Kristen Stewart) joins the royal family at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. Diana struggles handling her roles as Prince Charles’ (Jack Farthing) romance with Camilla Parker Bowels (Emma Darwall-Smith) continues.
This is easily the best that Stewart has ever acted on camera, and you lose her and find Diana. Her apprehension and nerves for Diana combined with the love and fun she shows the young princes will make you feel for Diana.
The script continually tries to show the relationship between Diana and Anne Boleyn, which somewhat works but seems outlandish.
Final say: A performance worthy of a queen. ★★★☆☆
