With the driving forces of creator Dan Fogelman and actors/producers Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez at the helm, it would seem impossible for Only Murders in the Building to fail. And luckily, there’s no failure in sight.
Actor Charles-Haden Savage (Martin), Broadway director Oliver Putnam (Short) and millennial Mabel Mora (Gomez) ride an elevator with Tim Kono (Julian Cihi) right before he dies. Obsessed with murder podcasts, the trio band together to solve Tim’s murder and create a podcast of their own.
Martin and Short continue their long-standing comedic partnership and they’re better than ever. Martin does fantastic physical comedy in the last episode as well. Pairing them with Gomez is an interesting balance that works brilliantly.
Smartly written and consistently deceitful, the show is planned and executed perfectly.
Final say: A murder you’ll be dying to witness. ★★★★★
