Despite the film showing that the Eternals have been living on Earth for thousands of years, luckily, it’s explained quickly why these heroes have been absent over the course of every Marvel disaster seen before this film.
Sent to destroy the Deviants on Earth, the Eternals go into hiding after the last Deviant is destroyed. Presently, Sersi (Gemma Chan) and Sprite (Lia McHugh) are attacked by the Deviant Kro (Bill Skarsgård). Sersi works to reunite the Eternals to stop this threat once and for all.
It’s refreshing to see such a diverse cast of characters represented as superheroes. Not only do we have different genders and races, but one is gay, and one is deaf (and played by a deaf actress). It’s a huge step for people of all types being able to see themselves onscreen.
Final say: Representation matters. ★★★★☆
