Venus and Serena Williams are two of the best-known names in the sports industry, and this film shows how their father kept them grounded as they raised in the ranks as children.
Richard Williams (Will Smith) plans how Venus (Saniyya Sidney) and Serena’s (Demi Singleton) lives in tennis will play out before they’re born. Along with his wife Oracene (Aunjanue Ellis), Richard trains them but makes sure there’s a focus on education, family and being young.
There’s something about the movie that creates a thrill when you’re watching the sister’s play because you’re nervous for the outcome despite knowing their futures. The tennis scenes are expertly crafted.
Despite a lengthy runtime, the movie doesn’t seem long enough, and you’ll be wishing for a sequel to show how the Williams sisters grew over their teenage years.
