Based on the beloved novel by Louisa May Alcott, director-writer Greta Gerwig brings this wonderful tale to life with the help with of an insanely talented cast led by Saoirse Ronan.
The March sisters – Jo (Ronan), Meg (Emma Watson), Amy (Florence Pugh) and Beth (Eliza Scanlen) – live a quaint life together creating stories and following their mother’s (Laura Dern) acts of kindness.
Ronan fills Jo with energy and passion and shows her flaws. As in Gerwig’s Lady Bird, she plays well against Timothée Chalamet’s romantic interest Laurie. Neither actor holds back nor is afraid to put a bit of themselves in the character. Pugh also makes the unforgivable Amy a strong and sympathetic character.
The cast has an incredible chemistry that’s elevated by the sets and costumes, which will transport you back in time.
Final say: A modern classic. ★★★★★
