While the ending doesn’t pay off, the mystery that drives Old is entrancing and full of questions.
Guy and Prisca Cappa (Gael García Bernal and Vicky Krieps) take their kids on vacation as they go through a divorce. While on a secluded beach, they discover rapper Mid-Sized Sedan (Aaron Pierre) with a dead body. Soon, he kids start aging rapidly and health issues start increasing rapidly.
The rapid aging causes the actors play the older versions of the children to play them at different physical and mental ages. Alex Wolff does this best out of all the actors with the teenage Trent who gets involved with many things beyond his capacity.
Going against the final reveals of M. Night Syamalan films, this one lacks a great understanding that others have and leaves viewers wanting more.
Final say: Old is new. ★★★☆☆
