Though it could’ve been another teen drama, Outer Banks breaks the mold by bringing audiences on a high stakes adventure with dynamic characters and crazy twists.
Living in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, John B. (Chase Stokes) wants to find out what happened to his father Big John (Charles Halford), who has gone missing. He and his friends learn about a treasure that was connected to his father, but find danger when others also come after it.
Like most teen shows, there’s a divide between the main characters and the “popular” kids. The wealth division allows for more tension – both between enemies and between potential lovers.
The cinematography shows the beauty of the Outer Banks and the frequently scantily clothed cast will hook viewers. The end of the season sets up season two perfectly.
Final say: A crazy ride. ★★★★☆
