Being in the dark as much as the main character is, The Bourne Identity will keep you guessing on what’s happening.
After he’s found almost dead in the water with two bullet holes in his back, Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) wakes up and realizes he doesn’t know anything about who he is. When he starts being followed, he pays Marie (Franka Potente) to drive him to Paris. All the while he’s being pursued with the intent to be killed.
Damon is perfect in the title role and is a great action star despite his baby face. He brings a softness to the role that will make you empathize with his situation.
The editing and filming style aren’t clean which adds to the confusion of what’s happening – in a good way.
Final say: An outdated, but compelling thriller. ★★★★☆
