Spoofing the tropes of PG-13 rated romantic comedies, Isn’t It Romantic manages to both be a great comedic film and make itself into a strong romantic comedy on its own.
Natalie (Rebel Wilson) is an unlucky architect living in New York City. When she is knocked unconscious during a mugging, her life becomes a romantic comedy. A billionaire client, Blake (Liam Hemsworth), falls for her. And her coworker Josh (Adam DeVine) becomes her best friend that could end up being more.
The film falls into every situation a romantic comedy could and it’s hilarious as Natalie is the only one who realizes what’s going on. Perhaps one of the best moments is when she and Josh’s gorgeous fiancée Isabella (Priyanka Chopra) begin a singing battle dance sequence to “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.”
Final say: Completely corny, but enjoyable. ★★★★☆
