Religion and comedy make the perfect mix as five nuns put on a variety show in this hilarious Off-Broadway musical.
After many of their Sisters died from accidental food poisoning, five of the remaining Little Sisters of Hoboken put on a show to help fundraise for burials led by Reverend Mother Mary Regina (Rue McClanahan).
McClanahan is at her best in this production. Though you can’t quite tell where her accent is supposed to be coming from, she is comedic gold. The end of Act I itself would be enough to get her a Tony Award had it been on Broadway as she brings down the house in fits of laughter.
Semina De Laurentis gives a scene-stealing performance as the forgetful Sister Mary Amnesia. Her soaring voice will astound you.
Final say: Plays well to all audiences. ★★★★★
