Emma takes the classic Jane Austen novel and gives it a bit of an awkward sense of humor that isn’t suspected of on Austen piece. It’ll have you captivated with clever fun.
Emma Woodhouse (Anya Taylor-Joy) wants to make sure she ends up with perfect life in both love and fortune. She’s popular in town without rivals but is manipulative with her friends and their lives as though not to seem better than hers.
Taylor-Joy is a wonder to watch onscreen. Director Autumn de Wilde knows when to utilize close-ups in order to better show Emma’s emotion, which can simply be seen in the ways her expressive eyes move.
The production is beautiful with period perfect clothing and a fantastic supporting cast – especially Miranda Hart and Josh O’Connor.
Final say: What the heart wants. ★★★★☆
