With the spread of coronavirus this year, Contagion almost feels like more of a documentary and shows the scary way the future can be predicted, and we just ignore it.
Returning from a work trip in Hong Kong, Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow) becomes sick and soon falls victim to her virus. Her husband Mitch (Matt Damon) is put in quarantine while Drs. Erin Mears (Kate Winslet) and Ellis Cheever (Laurence Fushburne) from the Center for Disease Control search for answers.
It’s terrifying how quickly the disease in this film spreads, which mirrors what happened at the start of COVID-19. With a lack of social distancing and spreading through droplets, it didn’t take long for a majority of the world to be affected and for chaos to ensue.
The film is expertly acted and directed.
Final say: Makes your skin crawl. ★★★★★
