Styled in true Tim Burton form, Beetlejuice is a riot from start to finish making it a Halloween classic.

After Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis) die, they are determined to spook Charles and Lydia Deetz (Jeffrey Jones and Catherine O’Hara) out of their house. They get sympathy from the Deetz’s daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder), but they employ poltergeist Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) to take the family out.

Despite freaky visuals, comedy is at the forefront of the film with especially great performances from Davis, O’Hara and Keaton. The latter is in the wildest role of his career and you can see the fun he’s having throughout.

The storyline moves fast, and you’ll be so entranced that when it finishes, you’ll wonder why it wasn’t longer.

Final say: Quirky fun for older kids and above. ★★★★☆
