A brilliant adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s thrilling 1955 novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley features stunning performances and twists that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.
Tom Ripley (Matt Damon) is asked by Herbert Greenleaf (James Rebhorn) to travel to Italy to get his well-off son Dickie (Jude Law) to come home. Tom becomes obsessed with Dickie and his life to the point of imitation, much to Dickie’s dismay.
Damon is the perfect person to play the flawed protagonist. You want to cheer for him even when he begins to break down and make questionable decisions. Law is charismatic and full of energy as Dickie making the most of his limited screen time.
It’s an intense story of stalking and makes you question how far you’d go to get the life you want.
Final say: Drives you crazy. ★★★★☆
