With its large female ensemble cast and quick humor, Pitch Perfect breathes new life into the teen-college comedy.
After making a deal with her father (John Benjamin Hickey), Barden University freshman Beca Mitchell (Anna Kendrick) joins the all-female acapella group The Barden Bellas. She clashes with traditional leader Aubrey (Anna Camp) but is interests co-leader Chloe (Brittany Snow).
Leading a stellar cast, Kendrick perfectly teeters the line of edgy and awkward, and her chemistry with co-star Skylar Astin is both adorably hilarious. Supporting players Camp, Snow, Rebel Wilson, Adam DeVine and Ben Platt all shine in their own rights.
With mashups of all different types of genres and songs, the music pushes this film to the next level. By the time Kendrick gets to her final performance, you’ll be fist pumping with her.
Final say: Its name says it all. ★★★★★
