There’s nothing quite like a heist and Ocean’s 8 proves that it takes less women to do what men can.
Fresh out of jail, Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) reunites with partner-in-crime Lou Miller (Cate Blanchett) to pull off a heist she’s planned for years. The two assemble a crew to steal a piece of jewelry off Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway) at the Met Gala.
The actresses with smaller parts – Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina and Rihanna – all have their chance to shine in roles meant for them. It’s refreshing to see such a diverse group of women in age, race and looks.
Parts of the job do seem to work out too easily, but overall the action is fun and fast. Just when you think it’s all over, the final act brings multiple surprises.
Final say: Women do it better. ★★★★☆
