With the character’s close calls and self-endangerment, BlacKkKlansman will have you on the edge of your seat.
Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) is the first black officer in the Colorado Springs Police Department. He makes contact with the Ku Klux Klan and leads an undercover operation alongside Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver) to infiltrate the KKK’s system.
Washington is inspiring in the lead role. His antics will have you laughing but will also take your breath away. One of the best scenes in the film is when he first makes contact with Walter Breachway (Ryan Eggold) and your face will look the same as those working in his department.
While racism is at the forefront, anti-Semitism and homophobia are looked at, especially in a great monologue by Driver.
Final say: A modern masterpiece. ★★★★★
