Showing how racism and sexism is viewed at one of America’s most prestigious companies, Hidden Figures tells the true story of how three black women helped get the USA to space.
In 1961, NASA employee Katherine Goble (Taraji P. Henson) is assigned to assist Al Harrison (Kevin Costner) in the Space Task Group checking the math for various parts of space flight. Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) is learning the new IBM while Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe) is studying engineering.
The film brings to life the story of these important women and it’s interesting to see how they’re looked down upon while working toward the same goal as the workers around them.
The only unfortunate part is the most memorable visual is Costner’s Al knocking down a bathroom sign as he saves the colored people.
Final say: An unforgettable story. ★★★★★
