In the third season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, character dynamics are tested when everything goes awry.
Since Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) is no longer overseeing the 99 due to a department move by Madelyn Wuntch (Kyra Sedgwick), the precinct has to adjust to new captains. Undercover Detective Adrian Pimento (Jason Matzoukas) resurfaces after 12 years and has a hard time adjusting to normal life.
Throughout the episodes where the precinct has different captains, the flow of the show hits some bumps. The writers were obviously doing this for a reason, but it doesn’t sit well and makes you yearn for Holt to get back to the 9-9.
Mantzoukas is hilarious as Pimento and brings a new comedic energy to the show that is everything you didn’t know you needed.
Final say: After the bumps, the season sets on a smooth course. ★★★★☆
