In the early 2000s, Christy Carlson Romano was one of the biggest names on the Disney Channel. She was Ren Stevens on Even Stevens, the voice of Kim Possible, Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway and starred opposite Hilary Duff in Cadet Kelly. It’s no wonder why the company gave her an album.
Of the eight songs, only “Dive In” was an original and showed her voice off in a pop song written for her. The song itself was never going to be a big hit, but was a fun addition.
All of the other songs are either covers or original songs for various Disney projects. She’s better on the upbeat songs like “Let’s Bounce” and “Teacher’s Pet,” but her voice suffers through the slow songs like Pocahontas’ “Colors of the Wind.”
Final say: Solid effort, but unmemorable. ★★☆☆☆
