One of his first novels, Nicholas Sparks’ A Walk to Remember will stay with you long after you get to the back cover.
Landon Carter remembers his senior year at Beaufort High in the late 1950s and the girl that changed everything. Jamie Sullivan was the preacher’s daughter and fate brings the two together. Their romance brews fast and strong, but life has alternate plans that will tear their happiness away.
This story moves at lightning speed and is hard to put down. While Sparks’ storylines now feel tired and bland, this early work still has a freshness to it that will make you smile and tear your heart out.
It may seem like the romance moves too fast, but considering the time frame of the novel, it’s pretty realistic.
Final say: A story to remember. ★★★★☆
