The scariest thing about this show is how close we are to the events occurring if changes in our structure aren’t made.
In the near future, the United States has gone into peril after a second civil war. With birth rates on the decline, women have been separated into different factions including Handmaids, which are women solely devoted to having children for the upper class families.
Elisabeth Moss is brilliant in the lead role of June/Offred. You can feel the discomfort her character endures in every scene. She’s backed by an incredible ensemble with Ann Dowd being the other standout.
Parts of the show are hard to watch and potentially triggering to viewers, but it’s important to see what our future could lead to if we don’t take a stand.
Final say: Absolutely brilliant. ★★★★★
