The second book of Jenny Han’s popular series introduces a new love interest and you might just find yourself rooting for him instead.
Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky are getting their shot at love, but a video from the senior ski trip threatens their relationship. The two get together with a group of childhood friends to open a time capsule and Lara reconnects with John Ambrose McClaren, whom she also wrote a letter to.
While Lara Jean and Peter’s relationship is tumultuous, John Ambrose enters as a formidable rival for Peter. He’s sweet and they just seem to connect better.
It’s fun to see Lara Jean grow and change, but the best part is still her little sister Kitty, who is just as feisty as in the first novel.
Final say: A love triangle makes for good drama. ★★★★☆
