Released: October 2, 2007
By: Martina McBride
Country singer Martina McBride has such a smooth and beautiful voice that it’s no wonder her Christmas album is filled with spirit.
McBride sticks to tradition with the majority of her songs not swaying too much from what you’re used to hearing. It’s nice and there’s a feeling of warmth that comes across with these. She even duets with the late Dean Martin on “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” proving that she can stand alongside the musical greats.
The flow of the album goes up and down with fast songs coming right after ballads and throwing off the tempo. She also gives less than fantastic versions of “Jingle Bells” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” which are too traditional compared to her songs.
Final say: Not the best album, but some songs are the best versions. ★★★☆☆
