A sequel to the 2008 horror flick, 10 Cloverfield Lane takes a very different approach at haunting viewers.
After getting in a fight with her boyfriend (Bradley Cooper), Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) leaves New York in her car. After crashing, she wakes to find herself locked up in an underground room. Howard (John Goodman) tells her he’s keeping her there for her safety, but Michelle cannot be sure.
Goodman gives an incredible performance in this film. He’s terrifying because you don’t want to trust him, but there are times that you think he may be right and that he is a good person. He brainwashes the viewer.
This is a more intimate thriller with just three characters being the focus of everything with few outside interruptions. Sometimes the plot feels slow and predictable.
Final say: Goodman makes the movie. ★★★☆☆
