Music: The Monster Mash

Released: August 25, 1962

By: Bobby “Boris” Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers

A Halloween classic, “The Monster Mash” has been a hit song for over a half century.

From the moment the song begins and you hear the creaking of the door and rattling of the chains, you know what song is about to begin. There has never been a Halloween party that I’ve been to that this song doesn’t come on.

Bobby Pickett impersonated the voice of horror legend Boris Karloff for this song and tells the tale of multiple monsters doing the “monster mash.” So, surprisingly the song is about the mash and not the actual mash.

Through the years, this song has become as famous as “Thriller” when it comes to October and tops the charts each year around this time.

Final say: You’ll continue doing the mash each time you hear this song. ★★★★☆
