Following the original King Kong storyline, this Peter Jackson film is a spectacle to watch.
Set in 1933, filmmaker Carl Denham (Jack Black) convinces a crew to make a movie on-location, which takes them to the mysterious skull island. While there, they encounter many unbelievable creatures, like the mighty Kong (Andy Serkis). After capturing him and taking him to New York as a spectacle, only Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) can save him.
This is a three-hour epic with beautiful scenery and incredible performances by Black, Adrien Brody and Kyle Chandler. While playing a damsel in distress, Watts is incredibly strong and makes more of her character than the “prize” she could be.
It’s a wild adventure, and never having seen previous Kong films, I was blown away from start to finish.
Final say: Definitely the king. ★★★★★
