By: Aaron Tveit
A live recording of Tveit’s solo concert at New York City’s 54 Below, The Radio in My Head shows the Broadway actor in top form.
Tveit tells the story of his life through music. He starts with “I’m Alive” from the Pulitzer Prize winning musical Next to Normal, which he starred in. He then continues with songs from his notable shows like Rent and Catch Me If You Can.
In addition to his theater side, Tveit sings songs by Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift. His vocals show that he can hold his own on any pop song just as well as he can in theater. When he hits the high notes of Mars’ song “When I Was Your Man,” they’re beautifully smooth and rival Mars himself.
Final say: A great vocalist tells a great story. ★★★★★
