Welcome to the Renaissance and one of the most inventive new musicals.

Brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom (Brian D’Arcy James and John Cariani) want to write the next big play, but are stuck in the shadow of Shakespeare (Christian Borle). When Nick consults a soothsayer (Brad Oscar), it is foretold musicals are going to be the future. So the brothers set off to write the first musical ever.

This musical had me rolling out of my seat laughing. The humor is written incredibly well with incorrect future visions and puns throughout songs. Shakespeare is also treated like a rock god here with adoring fans.

The group number, “A Musical,” will be sure to blow any theater fan away. They spoof and reference tons of modern musicals in it and guarantees a big finish.

Final say: Brilliant fun. ★★★★★
