Another superhero entry in Marvel’s catalogue, Doctor Strange may be the most mystical yet.

Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is a successful neurosurgeon whose hands are his most important tools. After a car accident that changes his hands forever, Strange travels to Tibet where he learns new talents from Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton).

At times, it feels like you’re watching the Marvel version of Inception. With the power to bend space and time, Strange and others can change the way landscapes look and work. It’s visually stunning, albeit sometimes confusing.

Cumberbatch’s wit seems forced at times, but that could just be part of his character. Some of the best moments are when he’s interacting with Rachel McAdams’ character after he receives his powers.

Final say: Visually incredible. ★★★☆☆
