Jason Bateman leaves his comedic chops behind for the new Netflix drama proving he’s one of the most dynamic actors around.
When Marty Byrd (Bateman) gets involved with money laundering for a drug cartel, he moves his family to the Missouri Ozarks. His dealings get continually more dangerous and his wife Wendy (Laura Linney) assists him while selling real estate.
Linney gives as strong a performance as Bateman does. Their characters clearly have a lot of love for each other although they’re rarely on the same page.
The constantly entertaining plotline drives through many themes including family, an unconventional LGBT couple, and what’s right and what’s wrong. The show is intense and you’ll continually wonder how this family is going to make it through everything.
Final say: It’s one of Netflix’s best shows to date. ★★★★☆
