Three film legends – Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg – combine for the first time to bring an epic journalism story to the screen.
In 1971, Washington Post Editor-in-Chief Ben Bradlee (Hanks) obtains the Pentagon Papers – a classified document with over 30 years of government secrets about war involvement. It’s up to the Post’s owner Katherine Graham (Streep) to decide whether to risk jail time to get the story to the public.
In their first scene together, Hanks and Streep begin sparring back and forth and you can see how this film will be a master class of acting. The two share incredible chemistry and command the screen.
This story is incredibly powerful and proves how the power of journalism can change the world. Spielberg fantastically directs a well-known story to make it as thrilling as ever.
Final say: With the three legends, this couldn’t go wrong. ★★★★★
