Okay, this could’ve either been absolutely terrible or completely brilliant. Luckily, it was the latter.
Based on the 2004 film, Cady Heron (Erika Henningsen) is uprooted from Africa where she’s been homeschooled to Illinois where she enters the public school system. She’s quickly recruited as a pawn to bring down Queen Bee Regina George (Taylor Louderman).
Tina Fey, who wrote the film, returned to write the book and she surpasses the comedy of the original film and modernizes it with social media.
The entire cast is incredible – big props to Kerry Butler for playing all the adult female roles – but the ensemble needs to be recognized. They rocked the large group numbers and brought amazing energy to the stage. Early on, “Where Do You Belong?” is one of the show’s highlights.
Final say: So fetch. ★★★★★
