While this is thinly disguised as a Christmas special, this is definitely has more of a prehistoric feel than a deck-the-halls feel.
Bonnie (Emily Hahn) goes to her friend’s house for a post-Christmas play date and leaves Buzz (Tim Allen), Woody (Tom Hanks), Rex (Wallace Shawn) and Trixie (Kristen Schaal) on the side for a new videogame system. And the toys they get involved with are less than good playmates.
While she is absolutely adorable, this story focuses mostly on Trixie – who was introduced in Toy Story 3 – and unfortunately leaves the majority of your favorite characters on the sidelines.
The story feels a bit recycled as well. The other dinosaur toys don’t know they’re toys and have to be convinced that their world isn’t real – like Buzz in the original film.
Final say: The movies are better. ★★☆☆☆
