After Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares, fans begged for more of the titular characters. Rachel Cohn and David Levithan granted that wish.

A year after the original, Dash & Lily’s relationship has entered a dull and distant zone. There aren’t thrills there anymore and Lily’s life has become overwhelming with the deteriorating health of her grandpa. The holidays will either bring them back together or tear them apart for good.

For about two-thirds of this book, I was just so sad about their relationship. It was absolutely beautiful in the previous one, but takes a turn for the worst here. The story shows how lack of communication and assuming things about another person can be dangerous.

But, you will feel so connected to the characters that you’ll push through to find out what happens.

Final say: Quite the heart-wrencher. ★★★☆☆
